TOUR MANAGER
Is a visionary Karimojong tour operator and founder of karamoja trails, a nonprofit community-based project which is empowering rural communities with grassroots sustainable initiatives and elevating the lives of children from disadvantaged communities through hands-on ground needs, Cultural research, Nature and charity field activities. This is what triggered him to abort his regular activities to fulfil his soul’s desire, and purpose in life: community interaction/sharing gave him a rich and rewarding outlook in life, and he believes that there could not be a better project to get his hands on than to assist in preserving our cultural heritage, supporting needy children, protecting the threatened indigenous tree species, art, talent development and identification
He was born in October 1994, in Karamoja, the home to the Uganda’s nomadic warriors. As a young boy, he grew up in unsafe and insecure community were the Gun culture and livestock was believed to be the only way to life, a community where cattle rustling claimed lots of lives, left many without parents and made many to escape for refuge. In the Karimojong communities, Cattle raids were taken as normal way of life and death was not strange. he was raised from this volatile situation where he experienced many bad incidents including the gunning down of his two (2) elderly brothers at the age of 8 years in 2002.he knew he was going to be the next person to be gunned if he continued to stay in the same place. His conscience told him to escape for refuge and only found himself in Kampala where he met his lifetime memory of street kid life till the time Government dis-armed the region off illegal guns (About 40,000 AK47 Machine guns collected from the Karimojong warriors).
He came back to the region, Karamoja, Napak District in 2006 to re-connect with his family members and thereafter left for Moroto district where he continued his education journey through the help of his elderly Joseph who passed on before he concluded his primary school, His intentions of going to school was not to acquire job seeking papers but to get to know how to read and write so as to document about the past and the present Karamoja following why he left home for life out of home. After learning how to read, write and speak English, he had to put his passionate interest in cultural research that exposed him to his region, elders and all the targeted cultural heads. Because of this, He started a tour company (Destination Nomad Africa DNA) to unlock the tourism potential in Karamoja by organizing and guiding tourists to the untamed Karamoja wilderness while creating economic opportunities for his local communities.
He has relatively quiet personality but his good sense of humor and excellent ability to relate to people always wins through as well as being able to learn, share and offer interesting inspiring cultural history on any aspect of Karimojong where he was born, especially on areas where he saw and learnt during his street life and his venture into the tourism industry as a field tour guide since 2014
