DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1:Transfer to the edge of Kibale Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, you will begin a scenic transfer to the edge of Kibale National Park, one of Uganda’s most beautiful rainforest regions and home to diverse wildlife and primates. The journey is long but highly rewarding, offering stunning views of rural Uganda as you pass through traditional villages, lush green countryside, and rolling hills covered with vibrant tea plantations that define this region. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking landscapes and authentic cultural scenery that make the drive an unforgettable part of your safari experience. Upon arrival at your lodge near Kibale Forest, you will check in and unwind in the peaceful natural surroundings, relaxing as you prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking adventure in the tropical rainforest.

Day 2:Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Wetland excursion

Today, enjoy an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale Forest National Park, renowned as the primate capital of the world. The park is home to the highest diversity of primates in Africa, including wild chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, & more. Your adventure begins early in the morning with a briefing by experienced park rangers at 8:00 am about chimpanzee tracking rules and safety guidelines. You will then venture deep into the rainforest in search of habituated chimpanzee families. As you walk through the lush forest, listen to the exciting calls of chimps echoing through the trees. Once located, you will spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat as they feed, play, groom, and interact. After lunch at the lodge, continue for the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary walk, a rich eco-tourism site famous for bird watching and primate viewing. Look out for the Great Blue Turaco and several monkey species in this scenic wetland paradise.

Day 3:Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and afternoon game drive

After an early breakfast, you will depart Kibale Forest and continue to the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular safari destinations known for its incredible wildlife diversity and scenic landscapes. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the majestic Rwenzori Mountains, also called the “Mountains of the Moon,” as well as the stunning Ndali-Kasenda crater lakes surrounded by rolling hills and lush countryside. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and relaxation before heading out for an exciting afternoon game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Keep your camera ready for opportunities to spot elephants, lions, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, and numerous antelope species roaming freely across the savannah. The park is also a paradise for bird lovers with hundreds of colorful bird species. After the safari, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 4:Morning game drive and boat safari on Kazinga Channel

Start the day with an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park after breakfast, offering excellent opportunities to spot wildlife during their most active hours. Explore the famous Kasenyi & Queen’s Plains, renowned for their rich concentration of animals and stunning savannah scenery. Look out for elephants, lions, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, hyenas, & more roaming freely in their natural habitat. The area is also a birdwatcher’s paradise with numerous bird species commonly seen during the drive. Your safari continues toward the scenic Lake George area, where beautiful landscapes and wildlife sightings create perfect photography. After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch before heading out for an afternoon boat safari on the famous Kazinga Channel. The boat cruise offers close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and variety of water birds along the shores, making it one of the highlights of any Uganda safari experience.

Day 5:Transfer to Ishasha sector and evening game drive

After your Breakfast, you will transfer to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, a remote and scenic wilderness area in southwestern Uganda famous for its tree-climbing lions and vast open savannah. The drive offers beautiful views of the countryside and wildlife along the way. Upon arrival, you will embark on an evening game drive in search of elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and the iconic tree-climbing lions resting in fig and acacia trees. As the sun begins to set over the plains, you will enjoy a relaxing sundowner experience, taking in the golden African sunset in one of Uganda’s most picturesque safari settings before heading to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6:Morning game drive in Ishasha & transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Start your day with an early morning game drive in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most unique safari areas, famous for its rare tree-climbing lions and wide-open savannah landscapes. During the game drive, you may also encounter elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, topis, and other wildlife as the park comes alive in the early hours. After the safari experience, you will continue your scenic transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, driving through beautiful rolling hills, rural villages, and lush countryside. Upon arrival, you will proceed to your lodge in Bwindi, check in, and relax in the peaceful rainforest surroundings as you prepare for your upcoming gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 7:Mountain gorilla trekking & Local community experience

After an early breakfast, you will head to the ranger station for a detailed briefing by experienced park guides about gorilla trekking rules, safety, and conservation efforts. You will then begin your trek through the dense tropical rainforest, navigating steep trails, valleys, and thick vegetation in search of a habituated gorilla family. The duration of the trek varies depending on the movement of the gorillas, making the experience even more adventurous and exciting. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one hour observing these gentle endangered giants in their natural habitat as they feed, groom, play, and interact. This once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounter is among Africa’s most extraordinary safari experiences. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. Later, you may choose an optional cultural experience such as the Batwa community visit or a local coffee tour at an extra cost, or simply relax at the lodge while enjoying the peaceful forest atmosphere.

Day 8:Transfer back to Entebbe via the Equator

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and begin your scenic journey back to Entebbe, marking the end of your unforgettable Uganda primate and wildlife safari. Enjoy breathtaking views of Uganda’s rolling hills, rural landscapes, local villages, and lush countryside as you travel through the heart of the country. Along the way, you will make a memorable stop at the famous Uganda Equator for photography, souvenir shopping, and an opportunity to stand in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres at the same time. This stop also offers a chance to enjoy local crafts, snacks, and cultural interactions before continuing the drive. Depending on your flight schedule, your professional guide from Naseeb Safaris will transfer you either to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or to a hotel of your choice in Entebbe.
